The 1958 to 1964 Chevrolet cars have a frame structure that requires a 2 piece driveshaft design. This small diameter original equipment 2 piece driveshaft has never been associated with strength and reliability.
It was built with a very soft and flimsy rubber mounted center support bearing to facilitate the forward and back movement necessary for suspension travel.
This style center support bearing is known for coming apart and is the least desirable for anything high performance. Those of you with a manual transmission know firsthand how bad these can be when you try to launch the car at anything over a fast idle.
For the Chevy owner with a hydraulic suspension they are the first thing to get changed.
Denny's now offers a redesigned 2 piece that replaces the original equipment design with a very strong and reliable center support bearing and a larger 3 inch tube diameter to handle the most demanding applications. It can be purchased in 1310 and 1350 series.
We utilize a very strong aluminum housing with a urethane mounted bearing. No more rubber to fall apart. The bearing itself is also a larger and stronger bearing than the OEM bearing ever was. The 3 inch tube diameter is considerably stronger than the OEM 2 inch.
Our 3 inch 2 piece driveshaft is designed with a spline and slip at the rear section to facilitate the suspension movement and it will never rip out a center support bearing again.
We also have a spline and slip style replacement rear section that you can add to your existing original equipment front section to accommodate an air ride suspension or hydraulics. With the addition of our OEM size urethane center support bearing you can upgrade your existing driveshaft.
